Our press releases will inform the Cruise Ships and Liners to call and provision at Stanley for fresh supplies. FALKLANDS FRESH LIMITED visited by H.E. The Governor, Howard J S Pearce C.V.O. H.E. The Governor Howard J S Pearce C.V.O. enjoyed a day visiting Falklands Fresh Limited and saw all aspects of the business on the Island. Starting with a demonstration of the inshore fishing where mullet (Antarctic Rock Cod) is caught the party moved on to see the oyster farm at Darwin. Here the Whitstable Oyster is imported and cultivated to maturity and then shipped, canned and packaged in Chile under the Falklands Fresh Brand. At Goose Green the Governor saw the Blue Mussels being grown. A tour of the Shellfish Processing Factory at Gordon Lines near FIPASS Stanley concluded the visits. Aquaculture is destined to expand in the Falkland Islands with huge progress being made over the last couple of years. High quality fish products are now being grown in commercial quantities to develop an industry of vast potential for export markets. More local companies and individuals are expected to venture into aquaculture in the near future to the benefit of the Falkland Islands. Simon Hardcastle October 20th 2003.
